Opinions on fake news is getting worse, misinformation in social media rapidly circulates. People are excessively concern of themselves and malicious comments are trending online. I've sensed so much hate, I've heard a lot of demands. This brought me to pause and dropped my phone and shut it off. I'm done praying when I grabbed my Bible to read.
The Holy Spirit took me to 1 Corinthians 13:4-13 and it recites the verses of love. I can always read this passage again and again because the word love is so rich and true. Words can't express enough, totally powerful, ineffable. He illuminates verse 7, "Love never gives up, and its faith, hope and patience never fail." Love perfectly describes as eternal. Spurgeon once preached, "God is a sun that never sets." Indeed, the picture of the Cross is the best demonstration of love and truth, because it is love, not nails, what held Jesus on that cross and His love surpassed death because it doesn't stop Him there. His goal is not to flaunt his bloody body to harbor sympathy but rather to save humanity. And this hit me so hard, as if I just heard the Gospel for the first time! Sometimes, it's very easy for us to resent the people that the gospel is intended to save, we forget that these people are not the battlefield they are the mission field.
As I continue reading, verse 12 describe things may look different in the natural despite how beautifully love painted in the previous verses, it may look like a dim image in a mirror hence this specific kind of love is difficult to grasp and sometimes felt. I might only be seeing fragments and small details of our future, the ounce of kindness that we feel from the most loving person we know is just a glimpse of His overflowing affection for us. Love will be expressed in its most concrete and great powerful manifestation. And I know when that day comes, I will be looking straight in the eyes of my Love perfectly given and completely demonstrated. If Apostle Paul proved that faith and hope never to fail, how can I drop love in the picture if this remain constant in the end? I am called to love, even the unlovable. I am called to hope even the process is frustrating. I am called to be faithful even there is no one watching. He calls His children to feel the power of love and not the pain caused by those nails. I pray to remain hopeful and faithful as long as I live and embrace the kind of love that held Jesus on the cross, sacrificial, overflowing, yet proclaim to be the greatest of all. His love never fails.
